Millennium Square, Leeds City Centre

Nagar Kirtan is a vibrant Sikh tradition involving a procession that carries the Sikh holy book through the streets of Leeds right through to Millennium Square. A six-mile parade accompanied by singing hymns, chanting prayers, and various religious rituals – with cultural performances, food stalls, and fun interactions along the way.
Organising a Nagar Kirtan requires meticulous planning to coordinate logistics such as route planning, crowd control, and security arrangements. All while ensuring active participation and engagement from the local Sikh community, and fostering inclusivity and welcoming participation from people of all backgrounds. And with a track record of solving ambitious challenges, it was the perfect job for Grace & Tailor.
We united a team of dedicated volunteers to assist with various aspects of event management, including crowd control, first aid, and traffic management – before implementing measures such as crowd barriers, medical stations, and security personnel to ensure the safety and security of all participants and attendees.
Our tech specialists used CAD software to plan the parade route, taking into consideration accessibility, crowd management, adherence to local regulations, and any road works on the day – and used traditional and digital communication channels to promote the event, provide information, and encourage community participation.
